    Why would you want to punish the students for circumstances that
    were beyond their control? It's not their fault you were never
    made full-time.

    I think any student who makes the effort to find you after
    you've left deserves the consideration of a recommendation
    letter. Do it for them, because it is the right thing to do and
    forget about renumeration. I honestly don't think you'll get it
    anyway.
