Re: Make each class an opportunity
    Posted by ACP on 9/01/08

Boy I am jealous! I would sure like to try that one year. I teach
six 45 - 55 minute periods and have 5 preps. It is a killer trying
to keep my head straight, prepare properly, and change gears all day
    long.

If I had the opportunity to teach only one prep, I would do a lot of
experimenting. I would look for new and more exciting ways to teach
and try out something new on each class at least once a week. It is
an opportunity for you to get really really good at what you do and
go more deeply into the subject. If you are not technically savvy,
take the opportunity to learn some new things and adopt them to the
classroom. My biggest issue with technology is that for the
majority of the time we use it to assist us in teaching the same
ways we have always taught. We really have not become good at using
technology to actually lower the teaching burden on the teacher.
    But that is another thread.

Look at it as an opportunity to do some things you have never had
time to do before. By the end of each day, you should well know
what worked well, what didn't, and how each class contrasted with
the others. I think you are in a position to have a lot of fun this
    year.

    Good luck to you!
