Have you tried to get to know your students? It helps to
build relationships with them first before trying any form of
instruction. They need to know they can trust you and feel
safe in your classroom. There are lots of ways to build
relationships. Icebreakers, social contracts, and cooperative
skills activities (not content related) can all help. Also,
there is a good book "Shouting won't grow dendrites" that you
could get. It's an easy read with wonderful ideas
