In our new school: We have 2 BBoards....one is so high I have to
stand on a chair to reach it. We do not have one single bookshelf.
We have a TV but it is almost to the ceiling and faces in a way
that there is always a glare. It has a VCR not DVD grr.
Only 4 electric outlets in the whole room and one is in a spot
TOTALLY useless/behind a door. We do have air conditioning (I am in
Mississippi) but it is controlled in a town 300 miles away. I have
my windows open half the time. We have lots of teacher cupboard
space, which is nice but takes away a lot..no wall space at all to
hang up anything. We have lockers with doors on them which I hate
and only 15, so the kids have to share. Can't wait for the usual
lice epidemic. Our rooms are painted a kind of urine (sorry!)
color....not warm and inviting except for the fact that it makes
the kids always have to pee. Speaking of, we share 2 one use
bathroom with 3 other Kindergartens..what were they thinking when
they built this. We had no say in it as our fearles leaders think
they know all. And they don't . They are stupid. But this very low
income community, and I mean LOW think the school is a beautiful
treasure and it has created a lot of pride. At least no one is
using the playground for a meth lab.....yet.
