Think of the bed idea... then, with your back to the kids,
make your two fists make a "bed" (bump together). Both of
your thumbs are up for the headboard and foot end of the bed.
You could even lay a little doll on your "fist" bed to show
the kids. If they use this trick with their hands, they can
quickly check before they respond... or write.
Another idea I've seen... is a picture of a man wearing big
glasses. His name is Mr. Beady Eyes (small dots for eyes
inside the glasses. I've even gotten faceted "joke" glasses
and cut out a b and a d on the Ellison cutter, laminated them
and taped them to the glasses. You can't really walk around
with them on, but you can use them as a prop. Mr. Beady Eyes
