While this is not directly a fundraiser, Birthday books
might be a way to add new items. One way to do this is to
order titles you want (say 15 or so), then in your school
newsletter or a fly, let parents know they can "buy" one
honoring their child's birthday. They then pay for the
book, and you put a bookplate in it saying the book was
donated by....in honor of their ...th BD. This allows the
parents to choose the title of a wanted/needed book and you
know the binding is good. You could also do a board to
showcase the books added with title and student's name. As
books are "sold", you can add more titles using the income
    money.

I also requested books be donated for our Battle of the
Books collection--placing a list of titles in the
newsletter. Only had one responce but it was a generious
amount and added many titles along with the Reading Counts
quizzes for each. Businesses in your area might be
interested in making donations for a mention in your
    newsletter and bookplate.
