Post: middle school curriculum

Posted by Mom Michelle on 5/01/08

Our district is adopting Springboard next year for grades
6-8. We had a lot of information from teachers who said
that they love it; students work in "thinkbooks" and there
is little planning. It is producted by College Board.
But then I saw some info online from teachers who say it
is "cookbook" style writing instruction without enough
detail in some areas. Plus a few teachers say their
materials arrived up to 2 months late each year. And
there does not seem to be room to do a workshop-style
classroom as well, since the trainer said we have to do
strictly the curriculum the first year to get the gist of
it. This is a different kind of curriculum, without an
anthology included and it would also be an expense each
year because the books are consumables. Anyone have
experience with this program? (Good or bad?)
