It is just busy, but in a completely different way than being a
classroom teacher.
You will "lose" many of the things that probably aggravate you
about SPED. (writing IEPs, for instance). I very rarely have to
"conference" with parents. . . occaisionally about a lost book,
that's it.
I LOVE getting to read to the kids, help them find
information, etc. I LOVE finding resources for teachers, and
co-teaching with them.
It is possible to take work home with you, but much more
difficult. I can plan lessons at home, or get a book order
together, but I can't really process books. Or check them in.
So, I have to stay late a bit more than I did as a teacher. . . I
would always just pack everything up to sit at home with an adult
beverage and do.
I get aggravated about--people scheduling things in the library
without checking with me, then getting aggravated that I've
already promised the space to someone else that afternoon.
Teachers telling kids they can't check out particular books.
Teachers assuming I can drop everything and help them right then,
never mind that I have 20 K students all by myself. (irk!)
