This is my first year as a school librarian. I have a helper
for 45 minutes every afternoon and an occasional parent
helper. My library serves somewhere between 200-300 students
from K-8th grade. I work 18 hours a week: Wed-Fri from 9:15-
3:15.
I figure I'll do my last checkouts about the 3rd week of May
but continue to have classes till the end of May. The first 2
weeks of June I've gotten volunteers to say they'll help me
close up the library. This being my first year, I don't have
a checklist yet. I think I will have more books than my
shelves will hold by the time my students return all their
books, so I have some empty boxes for storing books in. I
want to read the shelves and get them back in order. I hope
to have some bags I ordered by then so I can put book kits
together and move them to the teacher library I developed in a
back room this year. Then I'll move something else into that
space. I should do some dusting, take down my bulletin
boards, and clean my desk off. I don't know what else needs
to be done.
