EllenG gave you an excellent answer. You definitely have to
become familiar with your state standards. I used to create my
own series of library orientation lessons to begin the school
year. Then I made specific lessons for materials that the subject
area teachers wanted their students to know. Some of these were
based on the state tests the children had to take.

On the Library page on my website I would suggest first looking at
the Library Lesson Plan Book. I also have a page devoted
to Lesson Plan sites under Education.
