In what order do you do lessons and checkout books?

Do you do your library lesson first or checkout first? Thanks!
Happy Librarian I have 45- minute classes, 6 a day. I teach the lesson first, for about 20-25 minutes and then call students 1-3 at a time to get books. It depends in part on their age- I have K-6. K borrows old books :) from tubs on the tables and it takes a very long time, whereas 6th graders often have big chapter books and only a few need new ones...

Happy Librarian Hi, Jill! For me it ensures I teach what I need to, first. Often I have extension websites related to the lesson on the library computer they can use while I check out books, so it's a chance for those interested to extend the lesson I just taught.
