I've teaching Flipped to 7th graders for 4 or 5 years now. It's a
great way to begin the year as it's an easy read and fun to discuss.
We use the book primarily to teach writing--specifically the traits
of voice and word choice. We have students analyze both Bryce and
Juli's style of writing and then write a final chapter to the novel
(from either Byrce or Juli's voice) explaining what happens next.
It's a fun unit and kids usually enjoy the final chapter assignment.
