If so, what activities do you do with the book? The activities I do with my 7th graders depends on the year. Sometimes we complete a Webquest. We work with vocabulary, prereading activities and use our class notebooks. Ex - we stop reading and students make a prediction in their notebooks. They might have to pick three words to describe a character after reading a paragraph. We keep lists of characters. We laugh! Sometimes I point out funny scenes they miss (the haystack on fire); other times I slide right on by (curiously flat between the legs). We are reading the book aloud, but students may read at home and finish the book early.
