I > bet you will have to come up with your own teaching units > about this book. I disagree strongly. I know of several teachers who have selected this book to read with students, myself included. I understand the sick feeling you are referring to, but that is why this book is so powerful. Not only does it grab the attention of readers, wich is critical in student involvment,but it also tells a true story of survival, overcoming adversity, the strength in human character.... After reading this story, it seems impossible to not take responsibility for ones life curcumstance. I think that is a valuble point for students to consider. I am pairing the book with another non-fiction book written by a holocaust survivor. I am hoping it goes well. I am ofcourse sending permission slips home for parents to sign. Better safe than sorry!
