Re: Lesson plan idea for book"A Child Called It'

Are you serious??? This book is excellent for upper high school
students to read. IT helps them understand how cruel the world
can really be for some kids. In fact, some of the students
reading this book relates to it. Are you saying that
reading "Child called IT" is too harsh, but 1984, Animal Farm,
some Shakespeare and the classics, such as Mice and men are okay?
Get real. If upper high school can't read this book, something is
wrong with the teacher.
It is all about how the teacher approaches it. If the teacher is
prepared and knowlegable about the book, it is a precious aha
moment in the classroom. After reading this book, a lot of my
seniors wanted to go to college to be social workers and child
advocates. Some students wrote in their journals about their own
experiences with abuse. It is a great teaching opportunity.
