I started one class at a time the first year I taught, mostly
because a campus was located near my school. Although very
convenient, in hindsight, I should have checked around more,
because I actually would have done a different master's
concentration and I ended up later (thanks to a RIF) needing to
go to another district, which would have paid 1/2 of the cost.
I ended up doing the one I found along the way, so have two
master's now (and am paid for it, thank God), so I guess all
worked out.
Wait a year or two, do the research on what you want the
master's in. Don't put it off too long though, one of my
friends teaches elementary and now has kids and needs to go and
says finding the time is nearly impossible. Try to plan on it,
but don't rush it either.
