    Please provide more information. Your child is reading on a
    fifth grade level, but what grade is she in? What
    instructional level did the assessment indicate? What
    independent level did the assessment indicate?
    "Independent level" means what she can read well on her own,
    such as reading for pleasure; "instructional level" is the
    level slightly above that which will stretch her to improve
    her reading skills. Above that is a level
    called "frustration level" which means material that's too
    difficult for her to read at this point even with help...
    the level that would be "frustrating" to her.
    Different assessments will sometimes indicate different
    reading levels, but in general most assessments are pretty
    reliable.
