Re: More information as requested
Posted by zodea on 5/03/08

I had a son like that. The teacher and librian kept sending home
lists of books he 'should' read based on his reading level. These
were basically adult books. All he wanted to read was
Goosebumps. He read everyone because he liked them. They were
supposedly too easy, but that's what he wanted to read.

He's moved up to harder books now, but I seriously doubt he's
reading at the level he is capable of. He's now in 5th grade, has
read all the Harry Potter books and Darren Shan. He's working on
a Series of Unfortunate Events. He wants to read kid books... I
don't see the problem with that. But then I'm not a Language Arts
type of teacher. I'm just glad he's reading :-)

He has a B average in school. Everyone says he's capable of more
because of his test scores... but as long as you are graded
on 'organization' (ie. not loosing homework) he's not going to get
    A's.
