Re: Should I have a student teacher????
    Posted by deb on 5/24/08

I have worked with many cooperating and student teachers. The
best cooperating teachers are the ones who are reflective
    about their practices.
Why did you make the decisions that you made to set up a
    lesson?
During a lesson why did you change the lesson mid-stream?
Why are the kids sitting in rows even though you know in your
heart that cooperative groups are what you believe?
When you moved so and so to this place in the room and
continued with the lesson then went back to so and so and back
the child back into the lesson, what were you thinking?

Can you reflect on these types of questions without being
asked? Student teachers need insight without asking you these
type of questions. As cooperating teachers we have to teach
our students and teach our student teachers to reflect on why
and how come they are making the decisions they are making.
