    Post: 4th grade grading/record keeping

    Posted by alynn on 7/12/08

Hi all, different teachers do this differently, so I was
    wondering your advice....
I will be new to 4th grade as a first year teacher, and
was wondering when it comes to quizzes, tests, and other
graded assignments, do you make everything get signed and
returned or just below a certain grade? Do you keep
anything on file for your use/conferences or do you let
parents keep it all? Obviously, I would document
everything in a grade book, and keep important school wide
tests and Everday Math tests on file which we have to
(some send the EM unit tests home to look at and sign
first do you do this if you use EM)? Also, I'd keep a
writing portfolio to keep hold of certain finished
    products.
Also, do your report cards where you teach have number or
letter grades and are the progress reports the same using
grades? Just curious. Thanks for your feedback!
