If she has a problem already, it's likely not with you - she
doesn't know you. Administrators can be strange people -
easily threatened. Never wonder why you were hired and never
assume you were hired to accomplish anything. Most schools
are really not very results oriented - a lot of what goes on
in schools is reinventing the wheel.
I've rarely been to any professional development workshop that
had viable information - they're long and boring and too often
pointless. Celebrate that you weren't asked to interrupt your
summer to attend. Teach the reading curriculum that the
administrators choose- it's not the curriculum that's really
important - it's the teaching.
