    That's interesting. When I was a senior in HS I audited a Linear Algebra
    course at Queens College. Back then (1972) they used a textbook that took
    a very geometric approach to linear algebra. I still have the book
    (Elementary Linear and Matrix Algebra: A Geometric Viewpoint by Moore).
    Obviously they changed that.

    That is true, but those topics don't tend to show up on a middle school
    curriculum.

    FWIW, I did study both difference formulas and lognormal distributions,
    but not Black-Scholes. But of course Black-Scholes is more of a financial
    application of math than a math topic on its own.
