Post: Just Curious - if you could design the perfect math curr.

Posted by Jenn on 4/26/08

I am a special ed. teacher who likes to lurk here and read
thoughts on teaching math. I am one of the few who MAKE
my students (gr. 5+6, typically) LEARN their
multiplication and division facts as much as they are able
to; no calculators allowed. I have a question for all the
math-minded people on this board: If you could design the
perfect K-6 math curriculum, where pre-algebra began in
grade 7, what would it look like? What would be the main
concepts you would emphasize? Are there any published
programs currently on the market that you feel do this?

Thanks for the thoughts ~ look forward to reading them!

    Jenn
