    I join you in not knowing what IMP stands for nor what it is. I'm
    also interested in the fact that the text being used obviously did
    not present the material in a way that would have jogged the
    memory of that previously learned formula. The student seems
    literate enough to have connected a few dots in his limited
    lifetime, but was unable to find any links between what he had
    previously learned and what was being covered.
