Perhaps you can make a game out of practice. I was thinking you could divide the class into groups to solve the problem of finding the prime factors. You could then place prime numbers on the floor and have a member from the teams try to throw bean bags to hit the factors that they found for the number given. They get 1 point for each prime factor of the number they hit with the beanbag. This makes it not just about solving the problem but also about competing with eachother to hit the marks on the floor for the points.
