    Re: tutor scam
Posted by they get away with it because nobody takes it seriously on 7/01/08

    Hey TP,

Did they catch you in the scam or did you figure it out before
you sent any money back to them?

I have heard a lot of people saying that these scammers aren't
committing that bad of a crime and people are just losing a
    little money.

But I think it is a terrible crime. I heard the police and
government really don't care about it. Awful.

But that is why these criminals do this and get away with it.
Nobody cares that they are doing it. Everyone thinks the
victims are idiots who have it coming for being naive. And once
caught, the criminals do almost no time.

A woman was convicted somewhere in the US of being involved in
this. She only got 2 years. She gave up all of her N*gerian
contacts and they are trying to extradite them but my guess is
nothing will happen to any of them. They only got busted
because they got this old man for $320,000.

When I get my check, I am really interested to see where they
want the money wired to or sent to. Will they give me a foreign
bank account, a US bank account, an address, a po box? Can't
wait to see. I am going to be careful not to touch the check so
that I can preserve any possible fingerprints. But I'll bet the
    authorities won't even care.

If I counterfeited a $100 dollar bill, the government would
care a lot. But if someone counterfeits a $4000 check so rob an
individual citizen, they probably could care less.

I'll update you what the authorities say when I call them. You
    said FTC, right.
