I was just in a meeting at school on implementing AP
classes. Those in attendance had just gone to an AP
seminar. I felt a little out of place since I hadn't gone
to this seminar and also I teach middle school not HS
math, so most of my input was about where the middle grade
students were academically in math at this time. Pre-AP
was mentioned (without elaboration). Can someone let me
know more about Pre-AP as it regards to math. I would
like to work with my department to bring our students to a
level that when AP classes are offered in HS they will be
confident enough to enroll. Do you know of any
books/textbooks that focus on the type of thinking needed
for AP math classes but at a middle school level. I know
the AP classes are stats and calculus but the thinking is
not exclusive to those math courses. I need a direction
so I don't waste my time going in circles which sometimes
happens when I search the web.
Thanks,
Pat
