I don't know how much time you have for extras. I alway had
low performing populations of students who needed a lot of
remediation so I didn't have time to spend on things like
this when they were behind 10 years in math already. If I
had an extra hour, well, they needed to practice how to do
long division or how to find a common denominator.
Personally, I don't think students who aren't college math
majors really benefit from devoting much time to topics
that are peripheral to the main math they are learning but
if your students need to be challenged then go for it.
