Okay, so that whole think aloud that I did helped me to clarify
my thoughts.
I think if I had to characterize algebra very succinctly, then I
would say it is a type of mathematics that looks very much like
the syntax for a language in that it uses letters and sentences
more predominantly than pictures or shapes as a means to
understanding the patterns that rule the universe
