It's a nice idea. Be sure that when 5 goes into 400, the 8
goes above the tens place, etc. I might try to do it in one
problem, rather than split, so everything stays in the right
place value spot, and the quotient looks sort of like this
(0s are just because tnet gets rid of spaces).

Have you tried getting them to do this on lined paper turned
sideways, so the place value disctiction is better?
