I aspire to become a Maths teacher. I am a Maths graduate. Since I did not do my GCSE in UK, I do not know the GCSE curriculum structure.

When I searched for Edexcel past papers I could see Mathematics A - Paper 1 Mathematics A - Paper 2 Mathematics B - Paper 1 Mathematics B - Paper 2

Which means, does a student have to write 4 Maths exams for GCSE? When I looked at the Edexcel time table for June 2015, I could only see 2 papers (Maths A, Maths B) on June 4th and June 8th. I'm a bit confused, Could you give me an idea about this please?

(I know about Foundation and Higher tiers. I am talking about Higher tier here)

Regards, Martin
