Re: Block Scheduling
Posted by Jen Science on 5/08/08

    I am a middle school science teacher (grades 6 & 8). We
actually updated our schedule from last year to eliminate
those 80 min. blocks. You are right on when you say that
science teachers love them and math teachers hate them. Our
old schedule consisted of eight 42-min. classes per day; we
saw each class once a week for a double period (~80 mins).
Our current schedule consists of six 55-min. classes per
day. There are pros and cons for each schedule, but 55-
mins. has generally been a happy medium for science and math
teachers (as well as other subjects).
