Re: Does your school have 8th grade promotion?
Posted by mrsd on 5/08/08

Yep, and I HATE it! Kids wear nice clothes - we used to tell
them to wear their Sunday school clothers, but now we just
tell them to dress nicely. We're a formerly rural district
that is now more of a rural bedroom community to Chicago.
It's in the evening in a stifling hot gym. We give out
    Presidential achievement, Presidential excellence, VFW
Citizen of the Year, Student of the Year, etc. I hope we give
out the honor roll stuff during the practice, because it
really does drag out. Some parents and families come complete
with flowers, balloons, air horns, etc. ANNOYING! They're
just going on to high school, not graduating from high school
    or college. Sigh...Karen
