Then it's time to finish up quickly and choose shorter books
in the future. For now, there's no harm and lots of good in
telling them - "look, even me the teacher is a bit blurry
-eyed from this book. It's a wonderful book but the brain
needs variety. Let's get back to this book in a week - or two
    - or let's determine that we'll finish it by the end of this
week no matter what. What do you all think is the better
    approach?

You'll get lively discussion out of that choice - kids have
too few real choices in schools and they have NO idea how to
come to consensus - a valuable lesson in and of itself.

Post back if you want more. And know - never teach what
doesn't interest you. Kids will not learn what we're not
    interested in.
