Re: Classroom Management for Middle School - Use the Library

I used to do cooperative learning or group projects in the
school library which had large tables. The students were
assigned to a particular group so that when they entered the
library they just had to find the sign on the table that
corresponded to their group.
Library Tables Preparation
When the class came into the library the room was set up for
their cooperative learning project.
Each library table had a sign that was clearly visible that
indicated the group name.
Books, encyclopedias, materials from the vertical or
information files pertaining to that group were on the table
as well as any arts and crafts materials necessary.
Instructions for each group member were on the table. For
example: the computer team member was given specific
instructions for computer use.
Materials for each group were kept in cartons and were
stored in the library office.
For some cooperative learning projects different stations
were set up in various parts of the library. For example,
for the plate tectonics project I used a large map
indicating the various plates around the world. Students had
to find the location on the map.
