I've taught several different grade levels and when I taught
6th grade I sent the Weekly Reader home for homwework on
Thursday nights. The children really looked forward to it and
we always took about 15-20 minutes to go over it on Fridays to
discuss what they had learned from it. Then I took a grade on
it. If it was more "social studies" I would count it as a SS
grade, but could also count as a reading grade or a science
grade depending on the topic. They always looked forward to it
and would remind me if it wasn't in their mail boxes when
leaving on Thursdays. Parents always looked forward to reading
them as well! Hope that helps! :) Nikki
