I need some directions if anyone can help. Last 15 years I worked in high schools and thought physics. This year the administration offered me to teach in the middle section which is in the same campus of the same institution. I'm 43 and male and almost have no experience with middle schoolers. Should I give a try? Do you think that one can handle this challenge after 40?

Deann Marin My first response is yes, it's a great age, esp 6th grade. They're impressionable, you can talk to them and they want to learn. 7th and 8th graders tend to be lippy, but if they know you are there for them and care about them, you can get them eating out of your hands. I would suggest that you talk to middle school teachers and get their take on it...See More

bill T/Fl you've already gotten some excellent advice. I've 31+ years of experience, most of it doing middle school science and social studies. I wouldn't do anything else, but a couple of cautions...there is always that, right? That would be true no matter where you were or what you were doing. But I do digress... Some say that middle schoolers are indiffere...See More
