    Not really. In Montessori, the teacher gives lessons before the
    children are allowed to get that material out. In other words,
    if a child gets work out, manipulates it, has trouble
    understanding what it is AND THEN asks for a lesson - it's
    really too late. That is not the M. philosophy. The should ask
    for a lesson in whatever it is they fancy & then the teacher can
    make the call as to whether it can be done.
