I concur with MET's response. My middle daughter and youngest
son are both gifted. They absolutely love the child-centred
approach to learning. They also appreciate the fact that they
can direct their own learning when they are ready. They both
have had experience with the public stream and find that boring
and confining. As my son who is 9 says, "the public school is a
play school because there are lots of kids to play with, but the
Montessori is the learning school because I can learn as much as
I want to and not have to wait until next year". He was always
disappointed to hear the teacher say that the information he
wanted to learn would be taught next year -- he wants it now.
One of the things a gifted child possesses is a desire and
ambition to learn. They keep that in Montessori where they drive
the speed at which they learn, not the rest of the group.
    JMHO (just my humble opinion)
    Christy
