Re: North American Montessori center

Hi there,
I know here in Ontario, that NAMC is not an accepted program
for teachers interesting in a lead teaching position.
Unless, you have either your ECE, or other teaching
credential. Some schools will accept you with ECE and NAMC,
but most want an accredited Montessori training program.
Either MACTE or AMI (AMS is also an option, but is
accredited through MACTE anyways!). NAMC is not currently
accredited bc they are a distance education program without
hands on learning experience or required internship. I
personally did alot of homework on this subject when I was
deciding on where to train 2 years ago. I opted for the
MACTE course (CMTE) after I spoke directly to many of the
schools in the GTA. These schools are unable to meet their
staffing requirements otherwise. I have heard that the NAMC
program is wonderful, and the albums and videos are
excellent also. I have also heard they are seeking
accreditation. I hope they do, as this is a great option for
people unable to attend on-site training programs... but
until then just go with your gut. Make some phone calls to
local schools also to see what they say.
