Post: Grading students in middle school

    Posted by Andrea on 8/21/08

    Grading students in middle school
I teach Spanish in a Montessori school and we are just
starting with our new middle school program. Grading is
not part of the Montessori system but our students need
the grades in order to move to high school without
difficulty with placements. I would like to know if any of
you who read these messages has some rubrics that would
like to share or ideas that can help me make my own. I
taught in a public high school prior to changing to a
Montessori school and I find grading to be one of the most
difficult tasks of teaching. I have not figured out the
way of being fair and objective and demanding but not
    discouraging.
