I am a long-term sub in a K-3rd grade, two room school-house,
with:
5 - K
2 - 1st
6 - 2nd (two levels)
2 - 3rd
The other teacher has 17 students and teaches 4th-6th, as well
as being principal.
I began February 5 and plan to stay until the end of the
school year, 31 more days. It has been hit and miss, sink and
swim a lot of the time, as I have come in the middle of the
year and have no prior knowledge of what they've been
learning. I am constantly torn with teaching Kindergarten,
because they seem to have such different needs in order to
nurture them in to the schedules of regular school from
pre-school.
Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated and
needed. We use Houghton-Mifflin for Language Arts and Saxon
for math. The Kinders are here from 8:00 - 12:30 (lunch is
from 11:45 to 12:30). 1st through 3rd is here from 8 AM to
2:45 PM.
