Post: Monotone
 anon Posted on 11/03/09
Help me! I have a freshman boy who has been a monotone
since I first got him in the 6th grade. In middle school,
I worked with him, and had three different male vocal
instructors work with him. I honestly can't get him to
sing more than one pitch. The problem is now he is in high
school. We can't "fake" it anymore when it comes to a
cappella music and contest, etc. We are a small school and
only have one choir. I am hesitant to approach him because
he has some emotional issues and his brother committed
suicide three years ago at school. He is a sweet kid and
tries his very best, but everyone around him complains.
What can I do? How can I hide him? How can I talk to him
without making him give up?
