I started my unit on composers today with my 4th graders,
using Cheryl Lavender's Composer Bingo game. To head off
the inevitable giggles over the fact that all the composers
depicted were men, I told them that many of them are wearing
wigs. Then I asked if anyone knew WHY they were wearing
wigs (you know...the lack of easy bathing facilities and so on)

This one kid answered..."Because they are Jewish."

I busted up laughing till tears were running down my face.

Needless to say, the actual explanation was slow in coming.

(I am Jewish by the way)

I'm still giggling.
