I've noticed that our local music store has started to stock a lot
more of that type of stuff while still maintaining its stock of
band and orchestra instruments (rentals included). But the
proliferation of places such as Guitar Center (who sells guitars
of all types, drum sets, amplifiers, keyboards, and other things
of interest to rock groups) tells about what the people want, as well.

What annoys me is how many parents will trust department stores
and eBay for instruments for their children. Scary!

BTW....I admit to buying my acoustic guitar from Guitar Center. I
gave the local place a look-see first. The local place didn't
have any brands in acoustic guitars (steel-string) that I trusted.
I went with Guitar Center because they carried Taylor, Martin,
Yamaha, and a few other trusted brands. (I bought a Taylor.)
