    Re: Where are we going?

Has anyone noticed more of a push of rock based outside of school
lessons? In the town where I work, we have an "iSchool" and
"School of Rock." Both offer instrumental and vocal lessons (on
    all instruments). However, with the
guitar/bass/percussion/vocal/keys lessons they also offer an option
of putting the student in a "band" ensemble (rock band) and offer
30 minutes of practice time with other students. Many have
performed at big venues in New York City. My students who attend
these classes love it -- however they are not necessarily learning
correct playing positions and reading (ie. a bass student).

I am more of a rock/jazz musician myself, however I do have a
classical training and I was taught how to play electric bass with
correct finger positions, etc. I am not sure if these new styles
of music lesson schools are the new wave of the future -- and how
    beneficial they are?
