I have been using 1st steps and Conversational Solfege for the past
2 years. I love it. I start the solfege in the 1st grade and
never do more than 5 to 10 minutes of per class period. It took a
while to get the hang of it but now I love it and my kids are much
more intuitive when I ask them to read, and write rhythms and
melodies. Get as much as you can from his collection and look for
other authentic folk music books and dances. They can all be
incorporated.
