Hi everyone! The Music Express magazine is going to Senegal
this month, and using Fatou Yo as a wonderful song from
there. I thought "What a great idea! We'll go to Africa
all through February!" with my 4th graders. And then, since
they're studying the regions of the US, I thought it would
be a natural transition from Africa into music of the South
-- thinking spirituals, and some jazz, and even some folk
music. :)

So, favorite songs of the South? Favorite African songs? I
plan to do some drumming during this unit in February, but
then bring in Orff instruments and recorders as well -- so
ANY suggestions are great!!
