Re: who gets band? advice!
Posted by AmyIdaho on 5/09/08

    I've been dealing with a 5/6 combo class for 2 years. 5th
grades have to play recorder, but 6th grades don't. I tried
doing seperate things in those classes but it just hasn't
worked. Therefore, from here on out, that class will all
play recorder. It won't hurt the 6th graders to continue
reading music and playing it on recorder. I also let them
pull out their band instruments and read the recorder music
with the recorder kids (this only works on C instruments
though). They've also played along on my xylophones.
