Hi all. Does anyone work in a center or school that uses The Creative Curriculum? If so, how do you like it and was it expensive? Thanks

My school used to use creative curriculum for 3/4 year olds and 4/5 year olds. I don't know about the cost but there were mixed feelings on it. Some teachers really...See More

By looking at it, I admit that I am not impressed. There are lots of activities and I might love it if I could turn the clock back to the nineties. That was when preschool was FUN. Yes, we still have fun, but everything is all so standards driven (and test driven) now. Creative Curriculum seems to lack all of that. I mean general topics that would be on standards; I don't expect CC to cater to Ohio's needs vs. Pennsylvania's needs. There are great activities focusing on trees, but not so much on things that my kids will be tested on, including number comprehension and letter ID. Yes, it is probably buried in there, but it isn't a focus of the curriculum. My kids come two days per week and I have to show a year's worth of academic growth (as measured by their SLO.) I need it to be the focus. If I am wrong, please DO correct me. Believe me, I want to be wrong.

NYC Prek Try Core Knowledge for Preschool. The program is well written and has good thematic units. Not all things you will use, and you will use much more than is there, but I find it a great starting and middle point.
